A particular challenge for in-house attorneys is the need to translate their legal knowledge into each business context--while remaining concise and engaging effectively with their legal and business colleagues. In this session, we will cover three key skills in a practical and targeted fashion: (1) Keeping your focus firmly on what your business colleagues want to achieve and how to communicate most effectively in their context; (2) quickly structuring your messages to be concise and easy to follow; and (3) speaking with confidence and authority in a way that engenders trust and also builds and deepens relationship with your colleagues. Join us for this practical and hands-on template and checklist driven session.
Faculty will discuss:
- How to use your voice, gestures, eye contact and energy to project expertise and confidence while also connecting, in-person and virtually (20 minutes)
- How to assess your “audience” to focus on what they are most interested in and to provide the right level of detail (10 minutes)
- How to use questions and positive messages to build and deepen relationships of trust (10 minutes)
- How to use and customize our concise, structured messaging template (10 minutes)
- Strategies to highlight your key messages for clarity and effectiveness (10 minutes)
